ALLEGHENY ASCENT RIDE

The Allegheny Ascent is a challenging metric century which guarantees more than 5,250 feet of climbing through the beautiful Allegheny Mountains.  Shaded climbs on seldom-traveled rural roads featuring pristine forests, streams and wildlife. Sponsored by Reed, Wertz & Roadman.

Note: NEW IN 2016 - the Allegheny Covered Bridge Tour offers a metric century of rolling hills, a challenging distance without all of the steep climbs. Incorporates the beginning of the Allegheny Ascent (before the major climbs) and links with the 36-mile Covered Bridge Cycling Tour. 

Ascent Ride summary: Beginning at Shawnee State Park; Exit via 96 to 31 to Manns Choice; Milligans Cove Road to 96 S. into Hyndman; Schellsburg Road to Goosebury Road to Fairhope Road; Glen Savage Road - Right onto 31/Glade Pike; New Baltimore Road to Rt 30/Lincoln Highway to 96 back to Shawnee State Park.

ACBT Ride summary: Beginning at Shawnee State Park; Exit via 96 to 31 to Manns Choice; Milligans Cove Road to 96 N; back to Shawnee to pick up the Covered Bridge Cycling Tour.  A challenging, scenic ride with rolling hills.

COVERED BRIDGE CYCLYING TOUR
Sponsored by Structural Fiberglass, Inc.
The Covered Bridge Cycling Tour is an intermediate ride of approximately 32 miles, mostly flat with a limited number of gentle climbs.  The tour features the scenic Bedford County countryside and includes five of the county's historic covered bridges: 

Ride Summary: Depart Shawnee State Park via 96 toward Schellsburg.  Continue on 96 to Ryot.  Bowser Road to Dunnings Creek Road to Fish Hatchery Road to Gordon Hall Road to Reynoldsdale Road/Adams Run Road; to Spring View Road to Valley Road to 96 to 30 to Mill Hall Road to Hillegass Road to 96 back to Shawnee State Park.

Note: an extra (optional) 4-mile loop through Osterburg will take you past one more covered bridge!  

OR Take the Mini-Tour (12 miles) - perfect for the cycling novice.
LAKESHORE FAMILY QUEST
The Lakeshore Family Quest is a free family-friendly 5K ride within Shawnee State Park on the poplular Lakeshore Trail.  Perfect for kids and casual cyclists. Registration for this ride is FREE!  You will have the opportunity to pre-order an event T-shirt when you register online. Sponsorship available.
Thank you to all who sponsored, volunteered for and participated in our first two Bike Bedford County events.  Through the first two years, we have welcomed more than 350 cyclists from 8 states to our county for this wonderful event. 

2016 promises even more excitement as we expand Bike Bedford County to a three-day, three-stage event called the Bedford County Outdoor Challenge.  Participants may register for one, two or all three:  the Friday evening Shawnee Sunset Paddle (kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc.); Saturday's Bike Bedford County (Featuring new route options) and the Sunday Break of Day 5K/10K Trail Walk/Run.
