Steps to Success is a program sponsored by the Bedford County Chamber Foundation's BASICS program (Businesses and Schools Investing in Cooperative Solutions), designed to provide valuable information and skills to high school students in preparation for their first workforce experiences.

Held at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort, the event places students in a professional setting to learn from local business leaders about ways to get and keep a job. Students are encouraged to "go beyond good" in customer service, and overall worth ethic. They are given tools to make a good impression, to prepare for a job interview, and also learn about their rights as an employee. In addition, Steps to Success promotes Bedford County as a great place to live, work and prosper.

Exhibitors also take part in the event, providing a mini job fair for the students, who are encouraged to visit each table display, speak with local business people, and learn about the job market. They can even make valuable connections: some actually go home with employment applications.

Steps to Success is a WIN-WIN for students and sponsors/presenters. Students gain knowledge, skills and connections while employers get their first look at Bedford County's future workforce, while providing valuable information to students about careers in Bedford County.

Students are invited from all of the high schools in Bedford County, with more than 100 expected to take advantage of this FREE opportunity.
